The group was formed as an acoustic group originally, with Alexia Roditis on drums and Violet Mayugba on guitar, with the name taken from a note written by Mayugba on a chalkboard in her home when she was having troubles in a relationship.
Their debut EP Mom Jeans was released digitally in 2015, with Roditis singing and Mayugba playing acoustic guitar. After that, they were contacted by Ethan Knight, who soon joined the band and Mayugba moved to play electric guitar. The group’s second EP, Grimester, was released on April 6, 2016, followed by their first CD Sorry Mom.

After being joined by the brothers Enzo and Chris Malaspina on bass and drums and Ethan Knight leaving the group, Destroy Boys was nominated for three awards in Sacramento Area Music Awards, including the categories for Teen, Best New Artist and Punk/post-punk.
Destroy Boys released their second album Make Room in 2018, along with the singles “Crybaby” and “Vixen”. The group has continued to release singles and EPs, including the Destroy Boys on Audiotree Live in 2019, with their third studio album Open Mouth, Open Heart also released in 2019.
