In 1995 Disciple formed their own label, Slain Records, through which they released What Was I Thinking in 1995. The album, along with the band’s performance at a Battle of the Bands event in Knoxville, attracted the attention of Warner Resound Records, to which they signed in 1997. Later that year Disciple released their single “Fill My Shoes” through the label, which became a number one Rock Radio hit on the Jamsline Rock Chart.
The band’s 1999 release This Might Sting A Little earned Disciple two Dove Award nominations and contained two number one Christian rock hits. They have enjoyed significant success ever since, and to date boast over nine Dove Award nominations and two wins for Rock Album of the Year.
