Founding members worked at a fudge factory together and would perform for customers while they worked. They eventually formed a singing group and took their name from Baltimore’s Druid Hill Park. In 1996, they released their self-titled debut album on Island Records. The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and reached number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart. Two years later, they released their second studio album, Enter the Dru. This album featured the hit single “How Deep Is Your Love,” which was also featured in the film “Rush Hour.” The track reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Guest artists featured on their second album include Method Man and former Earth Wind & Fire member Dick Smith. In 1998, the group won a Soul Train Music Award and was nominated at the American Music Awards for Best R&B/Soul Album - Group, Band or Duo.

The group released two more albums between 1999 and 2010. There have been a few member changes throughout the lifetime of the group. Current members include Mark "Sisqó" Andrews, Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin, Jawaan "Smoke" Peacock and Benjamin "Black" Bush. In 2020, ten years after releasing their fourth album, they released a new single, “What You Need.”  You’ll get a chance to hear them perform this song live with your Dru Hill tickets. The group announced the release of their fifth album, The Second Coming, in 2020.
