The group began as a psychedelic rock outfit as they formed in 2006, releasing their first work as a split album with the band Queen Elephantine. The group would release a three-track album before their five-track eponymously titled debut album was released in 2008. They would follow that up with 2010’s Dead Root Stirring. Elder almost instantly established themselves as a group to look out for with their blend of metal and psychedelia.

Since the band’s inception, Elder tickets have been synonymous with potential as each of their songs explodes across arenas. A single track can explore a wide range of styles, as Elder often switches between rhythms and melodies on a dime. From the stoner and doom rock scene, Elder has moved from classic 70s to progressive, space rock, post-punk and more while never straying too far from their roots. After establishing themselves with their first work, later albums like 2015’s Lore also became highly acclaimed. It was featured by Obelisk as “album of the decade” and their 2017 effort Reflections of a Floating World also impressed. As the holder of the #5 spot on Rolling Stones’ 20 Best Metal Albums of 2017 list, Elder continues to stand out.
