It’s the oldest national soccer tournament in the world and features over 700 teams from England and Wales competing. The competition is made up of both professional and amateur clubs with teams coming from the English Premier League, English Football League, and lower levels of the National League System. Any club participating at these levels are allowed to enter the tournament with a series of byes in place for clubs that play in the upper-level leagues.
The tournament spans several months with a qualifying competition featuring lower-level clubs competing in six preliminary rounds. The competition proper then begins with the professional English Football League and English Premier League teams joining the fray. The competition proper features five rounds of play before entering the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final. Arsenal and Manchester United have been the most successful clubs in the history of the tournament with more finals wins and appearances than any other UK teams. FA Cup Ticket Prices
FA Cup ticket prices will vary from round to round and from game to game. Several factors come into play when browsing ticket prices for FA Cup matches including the round of competition, the teams competing in a matchup, size of the home stadium, and seating location inside the stadium.
How much are FA Cup tickets?
FA Cup tickets during the proper rounds of the tournament will be priced similarly to English Premier League matches due to those rounds featuring Premier League clubs. The average price for those matchups will usually start in the $40 to $50 range, while center field seats will start around $80 to $100. Earlier proper rounds of the competition will usually have seats starting around $20 to $30. FA Cup Dates & Schedule
Due to having over 700 clubs competing in the yearly tournament, the FA Cup schedule spans many rounds, matches, and months of competition. The tournament follows a single-elimination format throughout the entire tournament. The qualifying competition rounds begin in August and end in October with six rounds of competition. The qualifying competition will feature over 600 matches played between squads ranging from Level 10 to Level 5 in the National League System.
The competition proper begins in November with professional teams from English Football League One and League Two entering the tournament. The teams that made it through the qualifying competition will compete against the League One and Two clubs through two rounds of competition. English Football League Championship and English Premier League teams will then join the competition proper in the third round of play starting in January. From there, all teams will compete in four more rounds until two teams are left for the FA Cup Final in May.
When do FA Cup tickets go on sale?
FA Cup tickets will generally go on sale a few weeks in advance of each round of the competition. Due to being a single-elimination knockout tournament, tickets will only become available once a team has advanced to the next round of the tournament with the home-field advantage. Tickets for the FA Cup semifinals and FA Cup Final will become available four to eight weeks in advance of the games with the full allotment of tickets being available shortly after the competing teams are known.
