In 2021 Girl Named Tom released their debut full-length album Hits from the Road, a collection of folk cover songs. In the fall of that year, they auditioned for The Voice, where their rendition of “Helplessly Hoping” made the trio that season’s first performance to be unanimously approved by the judges. They would go on to work closely with Kelly Clarkson, who saw the group become the first trio to win The Voice.
