Feldmann founded Goldfinger in 1994 following the breakup of his previous band Electric Love Hogs. Goldfinger released their debut EP Richter through Mojo Records later that year, a release that found significant popularity on college campuses. The success of the EP led to a deal with Universal Records soon afterward, through which the band released their eponymous debut album in 1996. Listed by Alternative Press as one of the ten albums that shaped the late 90s, the release led to a resurgence of interest in the ska punk subgenre.
In the years that followed, Goldfinger toured alongside a number of high-profile groups including Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake. Their songs began to see consistent use in video games due to their popularity in skate culture, appearing in titles such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and Shaun White Snowboarding.
