Born in Seine-Saint-Denis, France on July 31, 1977, slam poet, rapper, and lyricist Fabien Marsaud is better known by his stage name Grand Corps Malade (GCM). Initially interested in pursuing sports, a pool accident in 1997 left him with a spine injury. Despite being told he may never walk again, a year-long rehabilitation brought him most of his mobility back, although he needed the use of a cane/crutch.
He then turned his attention to slam poetry and rap. It was at this time that he first started using his stage name Grand Corps Malade (Tall Sick Body). He released his debut album, Midi 20, in 2006. The album was a success, reaching Number 3 in the French chart. His music evolved with each release including Enfant de la ville (2008) and 3ème temps (2010), which featured a collaboration with French icon Charles Aznavour.
The album Funambule followed in 2013 and was his first for the Believe Recording label. Marsaud’s 2018 album, Plan B, was a tremendous success, reaching Number 1 on the French chart and was certified platinum. In 2020, he released the hit single “Mais je t’aime”, a duet with Camille Lellouche, which entered the Top 10 in France. That hit was followed by the album Mesdames, and the title track was released as the album’s second single. Purchase Grand Corps Malade tickets to witness a spectacular show.
