Danielle, Este and Alana Haim form the American singing trio Haim, who won a Best New Artist nomination in the 2014 Grammy Awards and whose 2013 release Days Are Gone and 2017 offering Something to Tell You both reached number two on the Billboard Alternative Albums Chart, also peaking at numbers six and seven on the Billboard 200 respectively. Born in Los Angeles, the sisters grew up in a musical family and performed with their parents in a cover band named Rockinhaim and with other artists before they formed their own group with a mix of pop, soft rock and R&B. An EP titled Forever in 2012 helped boost attention and they performed with acclaim at the SXSW festival. The single “Don't Save Me” reached just number 32 on the UK's Official Charts but it helped spread the word internationally.
They topped the bill on a UK tour and performed on the main stage at the Glastonbury music festival. The single “Falling” from their first album, Days Are Gone, peaked at number 45 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs Chart in 2013 but “The Wire” went to number 25 and reached number 16 in the UK. The group even had a friendly exchange with then-incumbent Conservative prime minister David Cameron while performing the song on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show, which proved to have a polarising effect among fans, although the album nonetheless reached the top of the UK charts. Two more singles also hit the US Hot Rock Songs Chart in 2014: “Forever” at #24 and “If I Could Change Your Mind” at #42. Haim was named Best International Band at the 2014 NME Awards and they toured extensively with Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Florence + the Machine.
Their second album Something to Tell You in 2017 included the singles “Right Now”, which went to number 44 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs Chart, “Little of Your Love”, which reached number 24, and “Want You Back”, which hit number ten. Their third LP, 2020’s Women in Music Pt. III, was met with critical acclaim. Boasting production credits from frequent collaborator Rostam of Vampire Weekend, it earned two Grammy nominations, sat atop the UK Albums Chart and reached #13 on the Billboard 200. Undoubtedly contributing to the album’s success was a pair of hit collaborations with superstar Taylor Swift: “Gasoline”, taken from the project, and “No Body, No Crime”, taken from Swift’s own Evermore album.
