Many of the instruments, amplifiers and effects used by Half Step are true to the same used by the Grateful Dead. Half Step is made up of seven original members. Scott Bardolf was the original vocalist and rhythm guitarist. Tom San Filippo was the original lead guitarist. Cindy Lopez provided female vocals on numerous Grateful Dead covers. Matt Iselin, Dave Diamond and Adam Polatov made up the original rhythm section. Polatov served as a drummer for many other bands including the Dave Diamond Band, the Bad Ildamado Jazz Trio and Danke Baby. He also was credited with the drums on the Grammy-award winning Les Paul album American Made World Played.
