The Baltimore alt-rockers came together in late 2009 as the new project of former local metal musicians who were looking for something different. With the addition of frontman Brian Swindle, the group hit the gas pedal and began performing and recording, kicking off with their debut EP Land of the Pleasant Living in 2011.

The band signed their first record deal with Topshelf Records to release their debut album, The Earth Pushed Back, in 2013. The album features the group's early hit “Let’s Talk About Your Hair” which has been streamed over 13 million times and introduced the emo outfit to a wider audience. The following year, they signed with Hopeless Records, known for their work with major genre acts like All Time Low, Sum 41 and Neck Deep, and released their sophomore album, A Place of Our Own. The next few years saw the group hit the road all over the world before hitting the studio for their 2017  album, Make the Best of It. Following 2019’s The Love Life, the group announced their breakup but it was luckily short lived as they announced their return in January of 2022.
