He is a singer-songwriter who plays in the blended musical genres of cabaret, pop-rock and glam rock. In addition to being an acclaimed vocalist, he plays guitar, drums, bass guitar and keyboards. Workman works fast when producing an album, as it usually takes him only a few weeks to record and release. He has released over ten full-length albums, including his debut LP For Him and the Girls in 1999.

Some of the musicians that have accompanied him on tours have been Todd Lumley on piano, organ and keyboards, Derrick Brady on bass guitar, Jesse Zubot playing the guitar and violin and drummer Brad Kilpatrick. His music has played on television shows such as Scrubs, Being Human, Falcon Beach, Queer as Folk and Whistler. Workman is also an actor, appearing in Score: A Hockey Musical and Still Mine. 

Hawksley Workman has toured extensively throughout Canada and performed in the United States, Australia, and Europe.
