The artist known as Helado Negro was born Roberto Carlos Lange and grew up in South Florida. While Lange was growing up in cities like Lauderhill and Davie, he developed an interest in the “Liquid Television” experimental videos on MTV. After graduating from Savannah College of Art and Design, Lange began combining experimental art with sounds to create his distinctive style of music.

From the release of his first album Awe Owe in 2009 Helado Negro tickets started to take off as fans flocked to his easygoing approach to dynamic songs. He followed up the next year with the EP Pasajero before releasing his second full-length album Canta Lechuza in 2011. While creating music Lange has collaborated with artists like David Ellis to create art with both visual and sonic appeal. Through 2019 Helado Negro has released six full-length albums growing in depth and execution with each work. While his 2019 project This Is How You Smile is considered one of his best-efforts Lange returned to amaze again with 2021s Far In.
