Inoculation, comprised of Anthony Allen, Nick Nedley and Charlie Winters, formed in 2011 releasing the demo Mayan Massacre and another in 2013, Elysium. While the band received some acclaim for technical prowess, it wasn’t until they signed with Maggot Stomp and released Pure Cosmic Dread in 2018 that the band hit its stride.

They developed a duel-vocal technique and a detail-heavy style. Their music has an atmosphere to it that invokes a sort of sci-fi edge, like the lyrics they tend to use. The band writes about aliens, cosmic horrors as well as occult themes. Tracks like “Xa’Ligha” and “Loss of Esoteric Profoundness” exemplify these trends.

In 2021 Inoculation released Celestial Putridity. This album continues the bands trends, but perhaps not to all metalheads liking. The high-speed lyrics and grinding shouts grant a sense of enthusiasm and earnestness but can be grating and dissonant with the sound design.

This style does make the band stand out of the crowded death metal scene, even if that reason may not be to everyone’s taste. Audiences can experience this unique iconoclastic band with Inoculation tickets. Songs like “Xerthaneus,” “Chasm of Aeons” and “Ovnis Triangulares” are among the best on this album.
