The indie rock solo project of Chicago-based singer-songwriter Evan Weiss was born in the late 2000s following stints in a number of local bands. Inspired by the emo genre with influence from acts like Sunny Day Real Estate, Weiss began pumping out original material over the first few years of the project's existence including his 52 Weeks project where he wrote, recorded and released a new song each week for an entire year.
Weiss released his debut album, Proper, in 2011 on No Sleep Records and kicked off what would become an extensive touring career where he continued to widen his audience. He broke through even further in the emo world with 2013’s Intersections, praised for his unique and talented of expressing himself through his sound and lyrics and Rolling Stone even included the album on their list of the top 40 greatest emo albums of all time. He has remained a pillar in the scene, releasing Figure in 2020, chock full of fuzzy guitars, energetic basslines and synth sounds.
