Robert James Reid, who goes only by James Reid, is an actor and pop singer who was born in Australia with an Australian father and Filipino mother and moved to the Philippines as a teenager. He gained fame when he won the television game show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash in 2010 and went on to star in roles on TV and in films. In 2011 he released an EP with his show rival Bret Jackson titled We Are Whatever. The EP featured more castmates from the show Ann Lie and Fretize Berced on the track 'Can't Dance'. Reid then worked on developing his acting career with roles in the series Shoutout, Good Vibes and On the Wings of Love. He gained fame for his breakout role in the 2014 film Diary ng Panget followed by a starring role in Talk Back and You're Dead. Reid's voice appears on both film's soundtracks.
His eponymous debut album came out in 2013 followed by Reid Alert (2015), His first studio album Palm Dreams was released in 2017 which featured his hit singles 'Cool Down', 'The Life' and 'Turning Up'. In 2018, he released a mixtape titled Careless Mixtape with the track 'Summer' with pop singer Nadie Lustre, which was released as a single in 2019 as was 'Risky' featuring KINGwAw.
