For one show, Hendrix’s bass player was unavailable, so the musician enlisted Baxter to accompany him for the night as an honorary part of Jimmy James and the Blue Flames.
Baxter played his first large show in 1968 as a member of Ultimate Spinach. He would then go to play with other bands including Spirit, Holy Modal Rounders, Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers. Jeff Skunk Baxter has seen great success throughout his career and in 2020 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Doobie Brothers. Baxter’s music has helped shape the world of rock and has gained him many loyal followers throughout the years. He has also played with hundreds of other artists as well including Dolly Parton, Joni Mitchell, Bryan Adams and many more.
