Jethro Tull Concert Tickets
With a band that has had over 50 years of performing, several generations of classic music fans can get Jethro Tull tickets. Formed in 1968, getting gigs in the early days was difficult for the band, because they were “so bad”, as their website quipped. The group changed its name often to get booked. An agent who was a history buff suggested the name of the English inventor of the seed drill. As luck would have it, a well-known club signed “Jethro Tull” as a regular act that week, and so the name stuck.
With Tull’s rock, folk, jazz and classical-inspired music, traditional instruments had their place. It was lead vocalist Ian Anderson who showed that the flute belongs in rock music just as much as a symphony orchestra. With the inclusion of the accordion, mandolin and lute, the band’s intricate musicianship is matched only by the imaginative lyrics and superior showmanship. Experiencing this timeless live music is possible with Jethro Tull tickets.
The band released their second album Stand Up in 1969 which eventually topped the charts at number one in the UK. Their fourth album, the popular and critically acclaimed Aqualung propelled them into extensive touring and mainstream radio. Later albums Thick as a Brick and Passion Play both reached number one in the United States.
The group has over 30 albums in their catalog, fifteen of which were certified gold or platinum. They won a Grammy in 1989 for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental with the album Crest of a Knave. Staying true to what has pleased them, the band's music has drifted among folk, hard rock, electric and acoustic themes with varied success. In total, the group’s efforts cemented their longevity.
The last new material The Jethro Tull Christmas Album was released in 2003, but the band continued to perform live, hosing both 50th Anniversary and Progressive tours. The remaining founding member vocalist Ian Anderson retained the rights to the name Jethro Tull and continued to tour with a fluid lineup of musicians. Fans will want to note the concert names for true Jethro Tull events. In 2018-2019 there were extensive dates in Europe and several in the United States. Concerts featured familiar classics including "Mother Goose," "Thick as a Brick" and "Locomotive Breath".
