He was just a 15-year-old kid when he won a scholarship to Aspen School of Music, where he met and studied under Adele Marcus. At 17 years old, Jonathan left for New York City in order to pursue higher education at the Juilliard School of Music.
John's life has been full of encouragement and inspiration. He was invited to participate as a composer in the inaugural class of New York University's Musical Theater Masters Degree Program where he studied with Leonard Bernstein, Julie Styne, Arthur Laurents and the list goes on. He went on and performed his residence for the London Symphony Orchestra's Leonard Bernstein Festival along with playing in front of Queen Elizabeth II.
