The Lovin Spoonful was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. Sebastian was born in New York City and grew up in Italy his father was a noted classical harmonica player and his mother a radio scriptwriter. Sebastian was raised around many musicians including Burl Ives and Woody Guthrie and hearing players such as Lead Belly and Mississippi John Hurt. He attended New York University for a little over a year before dropping out to pursue his musical career.
