The band met while attending Belmont University in Nashville. Judah and the Lion tickets give you access to some fantastic music.
While in college, the band won Belmont’s 2012 Christian Showcase and Best of the Best competitions. The group’s first EP, titled “First Fruits,” was a Christian-worship collection. However, they had hopes of expanding their sound and not being classified as only a Christian group. They wanted to reach a wider audience, so the group released a second EP called “Sweet Tennessee” in April 2013. It was on the Billboard charts and placed #2 on the Bluegrass chart, #9 on the heatseekers chart and #15 on the folk chart. Judah and the Lion released their debut, full-length album “Kids These Days” on September 9, 2014. Their single “Kickin da Leaves” accumulated more than 100,000 streams in two weeks. This release also came with a tour, in which they opened for Mat Kearney and Ben Rector and performed for the first time in Sweden. In 2017, Billboard named Judah and the Lion as its first chart-breaker artist.
That same month, the band made an appearance on the show “Conan,” which led to a spike in appearances at festivals such as Bonnaroo, SunFest and Hangout Fest. More opportunities came for the group, like opening up for Twenty One Pilots on their Emotional Roadshow Tour and select dates with Kaleo. Other television appearances include “Good Morning America” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The group released its third album “Pep Talks” in May 2019, which explored the difficult elements of divorce and alcoholism. This was mixed with tracks covering lighter issues as well.
