The grooves of Jupiter Coyote originated from long-time friends John Felty (guitar, slide, vocals) and Matthew Mayes (guitar, guijo, banjo, vocals) who moved from Brevard, North Carolina to Macon, Georgia around 1988 looking to build a funk-infused country group. They added multiple members over time and the current lineup includes Steve Trismen (fiddle, vocals), Noah Felty (drums, vocals), Sanders Brightwell (bass), John Meyer (guitar, strings, vocals), Robert Soto (percussion), Gene Bass (drums, percussion) and Ponchito (percussion).
With a talented roster and a natural ability to spread good vibes, Jupiter Coyote tickets offer great dancing opportunities. The group has built up a strong reputation for their funky jam-band style especially with Mayes performing with his unique banjo and guitar hybrid, the guijo. In 1991 people first started taking notice of Jupiter Coyote as they released their debut full-length album Cemeteries & Junkyards through their label Autonomous. They have released over 8 studio albums in total including 2004s Hillary Step.
