Kasim Sulton is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for his chart-topping hits “Don’t Break My Heart” and “Set Me Free.” Sulton was born in 1955 on Staten Island and showed a talent for music at a young age. He began his musical career singing and playing piano for the rock bands Sleepy Hollow and Cherry Vanilla before joining Utopia, with whom he recorded and toured widely until the late ‘80s.
In addition to his work with Utopia, Sulton has toured and recorded with several high-profile rock groups including Joan Jett, Meat Loaf and Hall & Oates. He was featured heavily on Joan Jett’s albums Up Your Alley and The Hit List, as well as on Meat Loaf’s breakout album Bat Out of Hell. Sulton released his solo album Quid Pro Quo through Sphere Sound Records in 2002, on which he played almost every instrument. His song “Don’t Break My Heart” was a charting success, reaching the top 40 in Canada.
