Before she was twenty she established herself as a first-rate backup vocalist and contributed to such successful tracks as The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo Money, Mo Problems” and Mariah Carey’s chart-topper “Fantasy”. Price called in many of the heavy-hitters she once worked with to contribute to her debut album, 1998’s Soul of a Woman, on which she had a hand in writing over half of the songs, including “Friend of Mine” which was remixed into a number 1 R&B single. 2000’s Mirror Mirror went top 5 on both the Hot 200 and the R&B album chart, and the single “As We Lay” garnered her a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Female Vocal Performance.

Her 2003 album Priceless boasted appearances by Eric Clapton and Faith Evans and returned Price to the top 10 on the R&B and regular album charts. Price showed off her gospel chops with the live album This Is Who I Am, which topped the Gospel album chart in 2006. She acted in and contributed to the soundtrack of the Tyler Perry movie Why Did I Get Married? She went secular on 2011’s Kelly, and the result was her fifth top 10 R&B album. 2014’s Sing, Pray, Love, Vol. 1: Sing was the first of a planned trilogy.
