One of the best-known coaches in Golden Flashes softball history was Karen Linder, who led the team for 19 seasons. Under Linder’s tutelage, the Kent State softball team won four MAC regular-season titles and two MAC tournament championships. They also went to the Regionals of the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament twice during this time period. The Golden Flashes made their first appearance in the Women’s College World Series in 1990. The Kent State softball team has played their home games at the Diamond at Dix since 1999. The facility has a capacity for 500 fans and was renovated in 2004. After the renovation process, the stadium became known as one of the best facilities in the MAC.
