The Wildcats represent the University of Kentucky, competing out of Lexington, in NCAA Division I women’s gymnastics, and have been competing as part of the Southeastern Conference, or SEC, as a founding member since 1932.
Women’s gymnastics began in 1981 under coach Leah Little. Little would coach the team until 2004 when Mo Mitchell took over the team. Tim Garrison took over the team in 2012 and led the team to its first winning season, finishing 16-10-1 overall in 2017.
In individual accomplishments, the first NCAA Champion was Jenny Hanson, who won the all-around NCAA Championships in 1993, 1994 and 1995. Hanson also won individual event championships in 1994 and 1995. Hanson was also a four-time SEC overall champion and named two-time SEC Freshman of the Year in 1995, Gymnast of the Year in 1995. She was also a four-time All-American.

Other standout gymnasts in Wildcat history include Robin Ewing, who was named All-American in 1996, and All-SEC team in 1997. Other All-Americans in the program include Mollie Korth, who was named All-American in 2017 and 2018. Korth was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2017 as well as being named to the All-SEC team.
