Griffin was raised in Monroe, La., going to high school at River Oaks High School before attending college at Louisiana State University. He worked at the talent agency Creative Arts Agency to support himself while he made music.
Griffin formed the band Better than Ezra in 1988. They became popular during the 1990s, putting out hits such as “Desperately Wanting,” “In the Blood” and “Good.” The band’s momentum continued into the 2000s, with popular songs such as “Juicy,” “A Lifetime” and “Extra Ordinary.” The band still tours and records together. The album All Together Now was released in 2014.
