Hear a Colombian-American storyteller with Kiko Villamizar tickets. The singer, songwriter, guitar player and percussionist Kiko Villamizar was born in Miami and raised on a coffee farm in Colombia. While a child, he learned about the rich musical heritage of Columbia listening to his family. The family could not afford lessons so Villamizar taught himself music.
He would go on to study music at Miami Dade College. Upon graduation, Villamizar traveled as a performing musician, and as he traveled he would study other cultures’ music and rhythms.

The album was inspired by an incident at the Standing Rock Indian reservation in North Dakota, as Villamizar was working to help support water protectors. The video for the title track of his 2022 album Todo el Mundo premiered on November 21, 2021.
Besides performing, Villamizar is dedicated to teaching music. Remembering his struggle to get proper training as a child, he made a promise to himself to help young artists, even those who didn’t have the financial means to pay. He has taught many young musicians and founded a non-profit cultural art center called Casa de la Cultura Austin, serving as Artistic Director.
