Azmeh began playing the clarinet at the very young age of six years old. Azmeh continued learning the clarinet and went to school at the conservatory of music at the University of Damascus. Later, Azmeh studied music at the Juilliard School where he got his master’s degree. Later in 1997, Azmeh became the first Arab musician to win the Nicolai Rubinstein International Youth competition. Azmeh has continued to perform throughout the world and was a soloist with several orchestras like the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, the Syrian Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic.
