Luca Pisaroni is a Venezuelan bass baritone who grew up in Italy and has established himself as a major figure in opera around the world. Born in Venezuela his family moved to Busetto in northern Italy when he was four years old and he learned about local heroes composer Giuseppe Verdi and operatic tenor Carlo Bergonzi. He studied at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan and also in Buenos Aires and New York.
He debuted professionally in Germany in 2001 and won praise for his performances of works by Mozart. He sang at the Opéra National de Paris, San Francisco Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Glyndebourne, Salzburg Festival and Tanglewood. He made his debut at New York's Metropolitan Opera in 2011 singing Leporello in 'Don Giovanni', which he recorded with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin in 2012.
He sings with the Wiener Singakademie and Wiener Symphoniker conducted by Massimo Zanetti on the 2013 album 'Verdi: Simon Boccanegra' (2013). The 2016 release 'Mozart: Le Nozze di Figaro' on which he performs with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin went to number seven on Billboard's Classical Albums chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording.
His schedule for 2018 included Gounod's 'Faust' and Handel's 'Agrippina' in Spain, Beethoven's 'Fidelio' in Japan, 'Faust' in Russia, Puccini's 'La Bohème' in America and Mozart's 'Don Giovanni' in Germany.
