Lucky Boys Confusion was founded in 1997 following the breakup of the members’ previous bands Farmboy and Spinning Jenny. The following year they independently released their debut album Growing Out of It, which contained the hit single “Dumb Pop Song.” “Dumb Pop Song” enjoyed significant airplay across Chicago, earning the group a regional following.
By 2000 Lucky Boys Confusion had been signed to Elektra Records, through which they released their albums Throwing the Game and Commitment in 2001 and 2003, respectively. Commitment went on to become the band’s most popular release, in part because it was the first in which they infused their punk rock sound with ska and hip hop elements.
