She began learning piano at the young age of three and soon added violin to her repertoire. As she grew in her musical capabilities, she discovered the jazz scene in Chicago and performed regularly at the Constellation and The Hungry Brain.
While performing in the jazz scene, she became a co-founder of the OHMME and began performing as part of Ken Vandermark’s Maker Ensemble. She also developed a violin/cello duo act with Lia Kohl. In addition to her performance history, Macie Stewart distinguished herself as an arranger. Drawing from jazz, classical, and folk music, she began composing for bands such as Lightbody, Knox Fortune, Whitney, and many others.
Macie Stewart’s main collaboration is with OHMME. She helped found the band in 2014 and since then the group has released numerous singles and several successful full recordings.
