The inaugural MegaCon was held in 1993 as the spiritual successor to the popular OrlandoCon, which had run from the mid-70s to the early 90s. In the early 2020s, MegaCon’s average attendance surpassed that of Comic Con International, making it the second-largest fan convention in the United States.
