Milwaukee Ballet Recital Tickets
Milwaukee Ballet tickets are available on TicketSmarter to give you access to Milwaukee’s beautiful ballet. Roberta Boorse founded the Milwaukee Ballet in 1970, who was described as passionate and relentless in her efforts to establish the art in Milwaukee. She dreamed of creating a place where professional dancers could perfect and refine their practice. As the Company grew and took new forms under new artistic directors, the goal remained clear: to make a name for ballet in Milwaukee. Boorse was successful, and the Milwaukee Ballet’s inaugural performance was on April 24, 1970, at UWM’s School of Fine Arts performing the Polovetsian Dance, The Hill and a pas de deux from Le Corsaire. Jury Gotschalks was the ballet’s first artistic director and Myron Nadel as its first resident choreographer.
The Milwaukee Ballet was a growing success, as shows sold out regularly within the first year. Just four years after establishing the Milwaukee Ballet, in 1974, the ballet initiated Milwaukee Ballet School, where dancers could be trained professionally. In 1977, they performed the Nutcracker for the first time. Simon Dow became artistic director in 2000, instituting the Company’s famous international choreographic competition, Genesis. The ballet currently has forty-four dancers and eighty-three musicians. They now perform at their home at Oita Bank Dome, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
