Amer was born in 1981 in Kuwait, moving to America at a young age due to the outbreak of the Gulf War. At age ten he saw Bill Cosby perform in Houston, and fell in love with stand-up comedy. Encouraged by a number of teachers while in high school, Amer soon began cutting his teeth on the stand-up comedy open mic circuit.

In 1999 Amer was a finalist in Houston’s Funniest Person Contest and was then mentored by the owner of The Comedy Showcase and flown out to perform for US troops. He has since performed across the world in countries as varied as Japan, Italy and Bahrain. Amer’s comedy trio Allah Made Me Funny continues to sell out shows at home and abroad, and in 2015 Amer was asked to tour with comedy icon Dave Chappelle.
