Ninet Tayeb, commonly known as Ninet, is an Israeli singer-songwriter, DJ, model and actress who also happens to be one of the most famous people in Israeli entertainment. Ninet’s rise to fame began very early in her career through collaborations with other influential Israeli artists. In 2006 Ninet released her debut album titled Barefoot which immediately took off and was certified platinum within 24 hours of its release, causing Ninet tickets to sell at an unprecedented pace. That same year, Ninet found success in her acting career as she starred in the hit Israeli TV show, Hashir Shelanu.
Following the success of Barefoot, Ninet released her second studio album titled Communicative in November of 2009 to initially mixed reviews. Her die-hard fans still supported her but because she had written, composed and produced most of the album, the sound was different and she began to see her fan base shrink. She began to play smaller venues and her album sales suffered, but as time went on, Communicative caught on with more people and her celebrity eventually recovered. Ninet’s third album titled Sympathetic Nervous System was released in May of 2012 to positive reviews and won Israel’s Favorite Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
She released two more albums in 2013 and 2015 titled All the Animals Knew and Paper Parachute which have performed extremely well in the Israeli and European markets. Her American fan base is growing as well. She moved to Los Angeles in 2016 with the intent of becoming an established American star. She has performed with stars like Gary Lucas and Cyndi Lauper. She was a fan favorite at her most recent SXSW performance and her NPR Tiny Desk Concert performance.
