The work premiered in London at the Lyric Theatre in 1982 starring Patricia Routledge and Paul Eddington. Noises Off met with rave reviews, winning the Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy.

The farce has since become a staple in professional theatre troupes across the world and has enjoyed a number of revivals and film adaptations.
