As of 2015, the Series consists of seven events, culminating in the World Series of Darts Championships. The second event in the series is the World Series of Darts NY tournament held in New York City.

The World Series of Darts got its start in 2013, at the Dubai Free Cities Darts Masters tournament. The goal of the series is to highlight the skill and performance of the players and make the game of darts more popular throughout the world. The next event was in Australia at the Sydney Darts Masters tournament, which featured eight players from New Zealand and Australia as well as players from the Professional Darts Corporation.
