Featuring 16 teams, this single-elimination tournament grants the winner an automatic bid into the Division II Basketball Championship Tournament.
One of the most dominant teams on the men's side of the NSIC Tournament Championships is the Northern State Wolves. The conference has great competitive balance, however, with every current member school making at least one appearance in the tournament finals. The initial rounds are played at the arenas of the participants, the semi-finals and finals for the tournament are played at a neutral site to ensure fairness.
