Sityodtong sought to create an Asian based MMA promotion and platform since no prominent promoters existed at the time. He believes MMA roots back to Asian culture and there should be a company that brings talent together in the continent. He created the ONE FC network in 2011, which would work with other Asian based promoters like GLORY to share ONE fighters. The first ONE event was ONE Fighting Championship 1: Champion vs. Champion, which was held at Singapore Indoor Stadium in 2011. After several more events, the name was changed to just ONE Championship in 2015.

After several broadcasting deals with local and domestic networks, ONE announced a 3-year broadcasting deal with Turner Sports in 2018. The deal would bring fight broadcasting to North America. Since the start, we’ve seen fan favorite fights like Rob Lisita vs. Eric Kelly, Ole Laursen vs. Eduard Folayang and Igor Svirid vs. Vitaly Bigdash.
