Between 1999 and 2005, Paul Thorn released five more albums. However, he didn't reach the US charts until the debut of A Long Way from Tupelo in 2008. The album peaked at No. 191 on US charts.

In 2018, Paul Thorn released Don't Let the Devil Ride, which included several covers of gospel songs. The album also featured prominent gospel musicians, including Bonnie Bishop, The McCrary Sisters and Blind Boys of Alabama. Additionally, the album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Album Chart.
