Pentagon is a South Korean boy band, originally made up of ten members that originally featured musicians Jinho, Hui, Hongseok, Shinwon, Yeo One, Yan An, Yuto, Kino and Wooseok. Pentagon is currently a nine-piece since the exit of Kim Hyo-jong in 2018. The K-Pop group is a construction of South Korea's Cube Entertainment company, which launched the outfit in 2016. With the group's cast finalized they played their first concert in December 2016, with tickets selling out in less than ten minutes of release. That same year the group released its self-titled debut Ep which featured the single "Gorilla". This was followed by the EP Five Senses two months later.
2017 saw Cube extending the band's international reach into Japan with the release of the group's Japanese language EPs Gorilla (2017) and Violet (2018). Since forming the band has released more than ten EPs in Korean including Positive (2018), Thumbs Up! (2018), Genis:us (2019), Sum(me:r) (2019), We:th (2020) and Love or Take (2021). In 2020 the group released its debut full-length album, Universe: The Black Hall, which featured the singles "Dr. Bebe" and "Shower of Rain". This was followed by the release of their first complete Japanese studio album, Universe: The History.
