Matthews was a drummer in high school, but grew enraptured with hip hop music, and did not finish college and instead pursued music full time, performing as the rap persona Liv Martez with artists such as Young Deuce and Amwalk in Cincinnati. He then moved to Los Angeles and created two personae, rapping as Pink Siifu and producing as Iiye. In Los Angeles, he has collaborated with artists such as Sudan Moon, AshTreJinkins and Conehead.
