Enjoy a fast-paced performance with Reduced Shakespeare Company tickets. The American acting troupe Reduced Shakespeare Company was founded in 1981 by Daniel Singer. He penned an abbreviated version of Hamlet for the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, held in Novato, Calif. His version took only 25 minutes to perform.
Their next effort was a 20-minute version of Romeo and Juliet, which they put on at various venues such as Renaissance festivals, beaches, street corners and private events. Reviews of the plays said that it was reminiscent of the Marx Brothers with its humor and its pace. After a friend suggested to the fledgling troupe that they perform at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, the group put together The Complete Works of William Shakespeare just to fill out an hour.
Watch the “Bad Boys of Abridgment” perform what they call the ‘New Vaudeville’ with Reduced Shakespeare Company tickets. The new play had its debut at the Paramount Ranch in Agoura before the troupe took the play to Edinburgh, where it had a three-week sold-out run in a church basement. The show was then expanded to nearly 100 minutes and the troupe performed its acts in theaters and festivals around the globe.
The troupe now has more than ten stage plays in their repertoire. Other plays that have been created include The Complete History of America in 1992 and The Bible: The Complete Word of God in 1995.
