The Ridgefield Raptors were founded in 2018 as an expansion franchise, as owner Tony Bonacci, who wanted to expand the league in the metro Portland area, along with Cowlitz Black Bears. They named Gus Farah as the first General Manager. A year later, they began their first field of play with head coach Chris Cota.
