Hear this multi-instrumentalist's lovely crafted solo work with Rising Sun Daughter tickets. Rising Sun Daughter was born as Grace Rolland was on tour with the band Run Boy Run between 2010 and 2015. Rolland is a classically trained musician, from a long family of musicians, on the cello, piano, and guitar. She joined Run Boy Run, with her brother Matt Rolland and sister Rebekah Sandoval Rolland, as a cellist in 2010 and was a part of that group when they won the Telluride Bluegrass Band contest in 2011, their two appearances on A Prairie Home Companion, and their four studio albums.
Rolland made her live debut as Rising Sun Daughter in 2013, playing shows in-between her duties as a part of Run Boy Run. She teamed up with Ryan Alfred, a producer from Tucson, Arizona who has worked with Calexico and Sweet Ghosts, to help her create not only her first few songs for her first EP I See Jane in 2019. True to her American folk style, Rolland brings a rich melody to her solo work as she explores her multi-instrument side, with electric guitars and synthesizers, and experiments with expansive soundscapes and expressive lyrics.
