The North Carolina-based singer-songwriter first kicked off his career in 1986. After listening to his Aunt Stella play the banjo countless times, Fulks grew fond of the instrument and picked it up at age 11.

He released his debut studio album, Country Love Songs, in 1996 to much critical acclaim. His music was often described as having an artistic blend of honky-tonk country with 50s rock elements. Country Love Songs (1996) ended up receiving positive reviews from several big-name media corporations, such as AllMusic, which rated the album a 4 out of a 5-star review. Since his debut album release, Fulks has produced over a dozen solo albums. He’s also been featured in over 15 collaborations.
