He got his big break however when he was discovered by producer Richard Gottehrer. Gottehrer was inspired by Gordon’s similarity to early Elvis and introduced Gordon to legendary guitarist Link Wray. The pair released Robert Gordon with Link Wray in 1977, which earned widespread critical acclaim. The album remains seen as largely responsible for the rockabilly revival of the late '70s and early '80s. Gordon still tours to a devoted cult following today.
