Swedish pop rock duo Roxette became worldwide stars in the late 1980s and early `90s, dominating the charts and airwaves and notching up album sales of over 45 million with their brand of infectiously catchy pop rock. Formed after the demise of Per Gessle's group Gyllene Tider, it was second album 'Look Sharp!' (1988) that proved their breakthrough, reaching number two in the UK, and producing the US number one singles 'The Look' and 'Listen to Your Heart'.
The use of 'It Must Have Been Love' as the soundtrack to the hugely popular movie 'Pretty Woman' (1990) gave the duo another US chart-topper before 'Joyride' - from the album of the same name again - repeated the trick. As their international popularity dwindled with the release of 'Crash! Boom! Bang!' (1994), 'Have a Nice Day' (1999) and 'Room Service' (2001) they were forced to split in 2002 when Marie was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
In 2009 they reformed for gigs across Europe, belting out a collection of their smooth-rocking power pop hits. Their eighth album, 'Charm School' (2011), was followed by a world tour and the release of their final studio album, 'Good Karma' (2016). Following years of deteriorating health as a result of her 17-year battle with cancer, Fredriksson died on 9th December 2019 aged 61. Grab your Roxette tickets now to see them live in your city!
