Ruben Blades Concert Tickets
Dance your way to the dance floor with Ruben Blades tickets from TicketSmarter! Debuting in 1974, Ruben Blades is a salsa and Latin jazz musician with dozens of hit singles, including "El Cantante" and "Perdo Navaja."
Soon after his debut, Ruben Blades began composing salseros with Larry Harlow and Ray Barretto before recording several albums with the esteemed salsa musician Willie Colón. Their 1978 album, Siembra, would go on to become the best-selling salsa album in history. Nearly every track in the album became a hit in Latin American countries and the record sold over 25 million copies.
Ruben Blades tickets only garnished further demand in 1984 when Ruben Blades created a band, Son del Solar. Their first record, Escenas, debuted in 1985. The album won a Grammy Award for the Best Tropical Latin Album.
The band went on to release Aqua de Luna in 1986 and Nothing But the Truth in 1988. Their record, Nothing But the Truth, included their hit song "Don't Double Cross the Ones You Love," used for the opening and closing credits of the 1990 crime drama Q & A. In 1988, Son del Solar released a traditional salsa, Antecedente, which won another Grammy Award.
Ruben Blades continued touring with Son del Solar through the 1990s and won the 1997 Grammy for Best Tropical Latin Performance with "Pena" and "Amor y Control." In 1999, Ruben Blades released the album Tiempos, with groups Sexteto de Jazz Latino and Editus. The album was awarded the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album. In 2001, Ruben Blades was added to the International Latin Music Hall of Fame. He won another Grammy in 2002 with the release of Mundo.
In 2009, Ruben Blades reunited with Son del Solar. He performed the closing act for Festival Internacional Cervantino in 2014 and won a Grammy for the Best Latin Pop Album for Tangos the following year.
